Speaker Bass Responds to Governor Revised Budget Plan

(Sacramento) During a capitol news conference following the Governors budget address to a special joint session of the State Legislature Speaker of the embly Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) said the legislatures Budget Conference Committee is reviewing every line of the Governors revised budget proposal. Speaker Bass went on to say while she agrees with many aspects of the Governors plan she doesnt believe its appropriate to eliminate the safety net and says the idea of building private prisons and selling state ets are long term solutions when short term answers are whats needed right now.
